Lost in Space

I'm having some trouble keeping up...I see now more than before how important it is to really "get" everything in this class as it's taught, because if you miss one thing...and it's used in the next lesson...you'll feel a little lost. My plan to correct this is to go out, buy some books, simply as references in case W3schools doesn't go into enough depth on a subject. Then I'm going to steal Amos's work and basically reverse engineer it until I can better understand the subjects that are troubling me. Wish me luck...I'm sure my next blog will be about how it goes...

First Homework

Forever a procrastinator, I started on Friday night...but it turned out to be pretty smooth! I'm happy to say it's starting to make sense and I'm starting to write code from memory...which is what I was a little concerned with... as you may have read in a previous blog. I'm also kind of worried that there are times that I'm taking the long way because I know it well, rather than learning new techniques that will cut my time in half!! I have to be more disciplined and use this time to learn...not to get things done. It's hard to switch modes like that when you haven't been in a classroom in a decade!! haha.

Thief or Composer

I really came in with zero knowledge, other than a copy/paste/adjust into myspace every once in a while, lol. Its turning out that I'm liking this even more than I expected! However! At this point in the class I'm not really sure if I'm "getting it" or if I'm just a clever thief. Seems like every "advanced" type assignment that we have I'm just taking code from earlier examples or even straight from the Prof's folder....copy pasting, duplicating, positioning the code...checking the page...adjusting...checking the page....adjusting...checking the page, etc... Is this how the semi-experts work as well? Stealing code and adjusting it all to make a genus site? Or are they like neo from Matrix just tapping away code...never running to another site for a quick copy/paste?
